Those born outside of The Birthplace of America associate Philly with cream cheese and cheesesteaks, but anyone from Philadelphia knows that this remarkably historic and beautiful city is home to more than a dozen museums and almost 300,000 pieces of incredible and famous artwork. So, after picking out your perfect engagement ring, it’s time to think of the best way to propose! Any of our proposal spots will be a work of art in itself; check out our categorized list of favorite proposal spots in Philadelphia.

Classic City Proposals

Love Park

LOVE Park (officially known as John F. Kennedy Plaza) is a public park located in Center City, Philadelphia. It’s nicknamed LOVE Park for Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture, which has become one of the most iconic photo opportunities in Philadelphia for both tourists and locals alike. Take a stroll through Center City and check out Philly’s beautiful city hall, then take advantage of the romantic moment as you pass the LOVE statue. The embodiment of your feelings for each other will set the perfect mood. You can even get married here!

Philadelphia Museum of Art

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is a great proposal spot, not just because it’s where the Rocky steps are, but because it’s a remarkably beautiful building. The Rocky Footprints at the top of the Museum of Art steps is extremely popular, drawing couples from Philadelphia and beyond. This iconically recognizable location is filled with so much energy as visitors surround and celebrate the newly engaged couple. But, many say the real romantic spot is behind the museum, featuring courtyards along the water with views of Boathouse Row. This takes us to our next category…

Proposals with a Beautiful View

Boathouse Row

Behind the Philadelphia Art Museum, there is a walking path with two gazebos, where you can stand and gaze at Boathouse Row. What a romantic spot to propose — especially at night, with the lights twinkling and reflecting off of the water!

Cira Green

Cira Green is an urban park hidden atop a parking garage in University City. This intimate retreat will take you above the city noise, offering the skyline and river as a backdrop, so you can pop the question with a view. There’s an acre of greenery here, so extra points if you pack a picnic and wait for the sunset! It’s perfect for your low-key or surprise proposal.
